Dear Mr. President,
Sir, with all due respect, I am disgusted.
I am disgusted, tired, and frustrated. Frustrated beyond all reason.
I honestly do not understand how so-called “progressive” Democrats held a majority in both the House and the Senate for two solid years, yet failed to pass progressive legislation that would extend any measure of equality to our lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) citizens.
How is it that DOMA could not be repealed?
How is it that ENDA could not pass?
How is it that the fight for LGBT adoption rights has no voice?
How is it that we can’t even offer protections to our youth by passing the Safe Schools Improvement Act?
And the icing on the cake — our LGBT servicemembers are expected to endure further discrimination by being forced to serve in silence.
