As a young adult, the dominant message was “porn is bad.”
Depending upon the context of the conversation or situation, sex in general was bad. And, the concept of sexuality, sexual expression, gender expression, and/or gender variance was just plain old non-existent.
In fact, growing up Pentecostal, pretty much everything enjoyable in the free world was “of the flesh,” and could lead to “demon possession.” This, of course, was undesirable, and the prevailing impression us children often walked away from Sunday school with, was that constant prayer and avoiding most everything fun was the one fail-safe way to avoid demons, the Devil, and eternal damnation.
